HC Deb 02 December 1980 vol 995 c120W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what has been the percentage cut in capital funds allocated to road building in Wales since the present Government came to office; and what slippages there have been in road building in Wales over the same period.

Mr. Michael Roberts

The information is as follows:

Year of expenditure Reduction per cent.
1980–81 10.0
1979–80 Nil

No trunk road schemes in progress have been affected but tendering and contract letting for some smaller schemes have been delayed this year to keep within the cash limit. I am not in a position to give information on county road schemes. We have not made final decisions on the 1980 survey, which affects plans for the future years.
