When it is expected that the western half of the Edinburgh Outer Bypass road will be completed; and when work on the eastern half is planned to begin, bearing in mind the urgent need for the related Musselburgh Bypass and improved access to Leith Docks.

The Minister of State, Scottish Office (The Earl of Mansfield)

The Edinburgh Outer Bypass and the East Approach Road to Leith from the Musselburgh Bypass are the responsibility of Lothian Regional Council as highway authority and it is initially for them to determine the phasing of construction within the available funds.
