§ Mr. Cookasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will publish in the Official Report a breakdown of the figures for expenditure on arts and libraries contained in table 2.10 of Cmnd. 7841, identifying separately expenditure on (a) the arts, (b) libraries, (c) museums, (d) the division between current and capital expenditure for each of the headings (a) to (c) and (e) the division between local and national expenditure for the headings (a) to (d).
§ Mr. St. John-StevasA detailed breakdown of the outturn figures for past years is not available in the form requested and its preparation will require a good deal of 73W computation. I will send it to the hon. Member as soon as possible. The figures for 1981–82 are being overtaken by the preparation of Estimates and the rate support grant settlemant for that year, which will be announced as soon as possible. As I told the hon. Member on 4 August 1980 — [Vol. 990, c. 21]—the figures for future years represent intermediate planning totals, and it would be unrealistic to subdivide them. They should in any event be seen in the light of the statement made by my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 24 November 1980.—[Vol. 994, c. 312–17.].
