HC Deb 08 August 1980 vol 990 cc372-3W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Prime Minister if she will seek to make new resources available to the national parks in order that they can take on and supervise young volunteers to improve footpaths and other amenities within the national parks.

The Prime Minister

The national parks already have many voluntary rangers. Young volunteers also apply themselves to conservation and amenity work.

It is for national park authorities to decide their spending priorities within the total level of resources made available to them and these must, in present circumstances, remain subject to the constraints imposed at large on local authority spending.
