§ Lord BARNBY
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, since they regard an annual inflow of immigrants, with its resulting impact on race relations, as acceptable, they consider the continued existence and cost of the Commission for Racial Equality to be justified.
§ Lord BELSTEAD
The Government see a continuing role for the commission, within the limits of the current restraints on public expenditure, in performing its statutory duties of working towards the elimination of racial discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity and good race relations.
