In order to free UDR soldiers currently engaged in guarding tasks for other operational duties we plan to close five bases during the coming 12 months. These are at Loughgall, Newtownstewart, Maghera, Ballyclare and Lisburn—Denryvelgie House. Soldiers currently serving at these bases will be able to transfer to neighbouring companies, nearby.
