HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 cc488-9W
27. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether, when next he meets the chairman of the Post Office he will discuss with him the various reports, including that of the Monopolies Commission and the Mail Users Association, giving details of the reduction in the service and efficiency of the Post Office during the past 10 years.

Mr. Michael Marshall

My right hon. Friend regards questions of postal efficiency and quality of service as of prime importance in the discussions he has from time to time with the chairman of the Post Office. He will, as announced by my right hon. Friend the Minister for Consumer Affairs on 1 April, be discussing in particular how the weaknesses indicated in the Report of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission on the London letter post can best be remedied.
