§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will give a direction to the British Steel Corporation under section 4(5) of the Iron and Steel Act 1975 to dispose of all assets which are not used in the production of iron and steel; and if he will list the corporation's assets which fall within this category.
§ Mr. Michael MarshallMy right hon. Friend has no plans to give any such directions to the British Steel Corporation. The BSC is actively pursuing the sale of assets both at home and overseas which are not central to its business.
