§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Energy what progress is being made in the formation of a working code of practice for the use of underwater electrical equipment.
§ Mr. GrayA working party under the chairmanship of an official of my Department is currently drawing up a code. This is expected to be ready by early next year.
In the meantime, my Department recommends adherence to the guidelines contained in the report "Underwater Electrical Safety—Guidance on Protection Against Shock", published last year by the Construction Industries Research and Information Association (CIRIA).
My Department co-operated in the preparation of this report and fully endorses its recommendations.
