§ 40. Mr. Cormackasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is satisfied with the quality of careers guidance given in secondary schools.
§ Dr. BoysonCareers education and guidance is the joint responsibility of schools and of the careers service provided by local education authorities. The recently published survey by Her Majesty's Inspectors "Aspects of Secondary Education" showed that in many schools it falls short of what is desirable. The careers service, which has the specific duty of providing vocational guidance for school pupils, is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment.
