§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, since long standing working in the ionised atmosphere of low-dose radiation has not been proven to be free of long-term potential hazards, he will undertake further investigations and discussions before implementing the recent Clegg report that recommends that radiographers work an extra two and a half hours in order to obtain a salary increase.
§ Sir George YoungThe radiological protection of radiographers, as for all other radiation workers in the health field, is governed by the code of practice for the protection of persons exposed to ionising radiations arising from medical and dental use, which is based on the recommen-136W dations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection. There is no evidence to suggest that radiographers who work normally and in accordance with this code are at any long-term health risk. The change in hours recommended by the Clegg standing commission would not affect the issue in any material way. The question of implementation is still under consideration by the Professional and Technical "A" Whitley Council.
