HC Deb 29 October 1979 vol 972 c375W
Mr. Concannon

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many school crossing wardens there are in the area covered by Mansfield and district council; and if he will list those that are to be affected by the Nottinghamshire county council's proposals to cut expenditure.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

I have been asked to reply.

Arrangements for school crossing patrols in Nottinghamshire are entirely at the discretion of the county council. The service is a valuable safety measure for young children and I am confident that the council will bear this in mind in making any changes. The patrols likely to be affected by, expenditure cuts could best be ascertained from that authority.
