HC Deb 24 October 1979 vol 972 cc229-30W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what proportion

as aids to animal feed, production subsidy for cereals used for starch manufacture and losses reimbursable by FEOGA for intervention buying, giving the reasons for any marked increase in any item together with any estimate made for the current year's expenditure.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The information requested is as follows:

of the total amount paid out in redundancy payments went to men aged 60 to 64 years in the latest year for which statistics are available.

Mr. Jim Lester

Precise figures of payments made under the redundancy payments provisions of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 to men in the 60 to 64 age group are not available. A 10 per cent. sample is taken and analysis of these figures for the financial year ended 31 March 1979 shows that 26 per cent. of moneys paid went to men in that age group.
