asked the Lord Privy Seal what proposals he has for fostering knowledge among young people about the need for overseas aid.

Mr. Hurd

The Government believe that this should be a matter for voluntary effort. As the Minister for Overseas Development announced on 9 October, official financing of development education activities is to be progressively reduced so that we can concentrate the resources of our aid programme on actual help to the developing world.
