Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for the principal exporting countries the annual increase in retail prices between 1952 and 1978 in the form of an index or otherwise.

Consumer prices indices for some main exporting countries are shown in the following table.

In making comparisons it is important to note that there are differences between countries in coverage and methods of construction of their price indices.
