In the joint CBI and NEDO inquiry, for October 1979, into trends in the textiles and clothing industries 64 per cent. of the respondent firms in the cotton and manmade fibre weaving industry reported that they were working below a satisfactory full rate of operation. Separate figures for cotton and man-made fibres are not available.
