(4) Denmark and the Republic of Ireland are excluded from the figures for 1971–72 and earlier years (in 1971–72 there were 201 students in universities and 91 on courses of advanced further education from those countries). The treaty of Accession to EEC was ratified for these countries in 1972–73.
