§ Mr. Norman LamontThe gas and electricity industries' code of practice on payment of domestic electricity and gas bills was published in December 1976 and revised last year. It offers guidance on easier payment methods to those finding it hard to meet their bills and provides safeguards adopted by the industry to avoid disconnection of supply in cases of real hardship. Copies are available at electricity and gas showrooms, offices and consultative councils, citizens advice bureaux, consumer advice centres and through various local voluntary organisations.
