asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Inland Revenue has undertaken or is undertaking a feasibility study into the possibility of computerising all telephone directories in order to be able to trace individuals' names and addresses from their telephone numbers.

No. The Inland Revenue has no such plans.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what methods Inland Revenue has or is undertaken a cellor of the Exchequer whether the Board Inland Revenue inspectors currently use in order to trace the names and addresses of individuals who advertise in local papers giving only their telephone numbers.

It is part of the duty of Inspectors of Taxes to decide how to set about tracing such individuals.
