asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what duties are laid upon regional authorities which require them to provide continuity of tuition to schoolchildren studying for O grades once the children have embarked upon an O grade course.

None specifically. Under section 1 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1962, education authorities have a general duty to secure that there is made for their area adequate and efficient provision of school education. School education is defined as progressive education appropriate to the requirements of pupils in attendance at schools, regard being had to their age, ability and aptitude.
