Mr. Coleman

asked the Secretary of of State for Wales how many intensive care cots for very sick and very small babies there are in Welsh hospitals; and if he will list those hospitals where these cots are located.

There is no designated regional or sub-regional unit specialising in the resuscitation and maintenance of life of the newborn. Facilities for the care of very sick and very small babies are available in the special care baby units at the following hospitalsHM Stanley, St. Asaph; Maelor general, Wrexham; Bronglais, Aberystwyth; Nevill Hall, Abergavenny; Royal Gwent, Newport; County, Pontypool; St. Davids, Bangor; Bridgend general; East Glamorgan, Church Village; St. Tydfils, Merthyr; University hospital of Wales, Cardiff; St. David's, Cardiff; Morriston; Neath; West Wales general, Carmarthen.
