Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Minister of Transport what consultations have taken place with London Transport about violence on the buses and underground against staff and passengers; and what decisions were taken.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department and I met the chairman of the London Transport Executive on 30 October to discuss this problem, having earlier met representatives of the London Transport staff unions.

We have agreed in principle to the establishment of a working conference to be held in the new year at which representatives of the various organisations concerned about violence on transport systems throughout the country can meet
