HC Deb 13 November 1979 vol 973 cc505-6W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Prime Minister if she will not invite to the all-party talks on Scottish affairs any party or group which lays down a condition that it will enter discussions only on the basis of future independence for Scotland.

The Prime Minister

The proposed all-party talks about the government of Scotland are intended to take place within the present constitutional framework and therefore the question of independence being discussed does not arise.
