HC Deb 13 November 1979 vol 973 c525W
Mr. Marland

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action is being taken to control sheep grazing in the Forest of Dean.

Mr. Wiggin

After consultation with local interests, the Forestry Commission has negotiated with the Commoners' Association a scheme for controlling the grazing. This includes the registration and licensing of the graziers; provisions for overall numbers of sheep grazed in the forest and improved marking; and other arrangements for reducing the effects of uncontrolled grazing in the area of Cinderford.

I have written to my hon. Friend with full details of the scheme.
