My right hon. Friend has not met the chairman of Cable and Wireless Ltd. recently. My hon. Friend the Minister of State's most recent meeting with the chairman was on 2 October 1979.

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will sell off the Government's holding in Cable and Wireless Ltd.

As part of their wider review of public holdings the Government have been considering the desirability of selling some of the Government's shares in Cable and Wireless. However, no firm proposals have been made and no decisions have been reached.
