asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what section of immigration law and regulations was used to refuse admission to Mr. Mohammed Ahmed, case No. A.280907/2, at London Airport on 10 September, in spite of Mr. Ahmed being in possession of an entry certificate issued by the British Consulate, Karachi; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Ahmed was granted a visa to enable him to come to the United Kingdom to work as a domestic servant but when he was interviewed by an immigration officer on arrival it appeared from references he carried that he was contemplating employment as a garage hand. Mr. Ahmed also confirmed that his main employment in Pakistan had been in garages, and not as a domestic servant. The immigration officer was therefore satisfied that false representations had been employed or material facts had been concealed, whether or not to Mr. Ahmed's knowledge, for the purpose of obtaining the visa. He accordingly refused Mr. Ahmed leave to enter in accordance with paragraph 10 of the "Statement of Immigration Rules for Control on Entry, EEC and Other Non-Commonwealth Nationals"—House of Commons Paper 81, laid before Parliament on 25 January 1973.

As the holder of a visa, Mr. Ahmed had a right of appeal to an adjudicator before removal, which he duly exercised. The adjudicator dismissed the appeal on 25 October. Mr. Ahmed is now appealing to the tribunal against the adjudicator's
