HC Deb 08 November 1979 vol 973 c278W
23. Mr. Budgen

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any plans for introducing further methods of measuring movements in monetary aggregates.

Mr. Lawson

Monetary statistics are being developed progressively. For example, the Bank of England has been experimenting with abbreviated weekly returns from a sample of banks. A recent article in the Bank'sQuarterly Bulletin presented measures of some of the elements of private sector liquidity.
