§ Mr. Alec Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Industry what financial savings will be made from ending regional development grants in intermediate areas and reducing the rate in development areas in Wales.
§ Mr. David MitchellIt is estimated that the financial savings from discontinuing payment of regional development grants in the present intermediate areas in Wales will amount to £3 million annually. Savings arising from the reduction in the rate of grant payable in those areas which on 1 August 1980 will be development areas are estimated to be £8.8 million annually, at 1980 PESC prices.
