§ Mr. Denzil Daviesasked the Chancellor of Exchequer whether he will introduce legislation to ensure that overseas banks report directly to the Inland Revenue on interest paid to depositors who are resident in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter Rees[pursuant to his reply, 31 October 1979, c. 527]: Such legislation would be likely to be ineffective as it could not be enforced outside the United Kingdom.
