§ Mr. HayhoeA total of 42 soldiers, including members of the Ulster Defence Regiment, were killed and 42 wounded in terrorist incidents between 1 January 1979 and 31 October 1979. The Provisional Irish Republican Army has claimed responsibility for the majority of these outrages. Statistics for civilian casualties do not distinguish between terrorists and others.
