Mr. John Grant

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will make a statement about the future of the Commission for Racial Equality;

(2) if he will make a statement about the future of the Equal Opportunities Commission.

The Government are committed to the advancement of good race relations and of equal opportunities and recognise the part that the Commission for Racial Equality and the Equal Opportunities Commission have to play in this Our detailed policies as they affect the two Commissions will be worked out in due course.
