§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish the actual or estimated increases proposed in Government expenditure since 3 May, together with reductions; and what are the anticipated net results of these expenditures.
§ Mr. BiffenTwo changes in public expenditure have been announced. The Armed Forces' pay award is estimated to increase expenditure by £269 million in 1979–80 and the police pay award by £50 million. This expenditure is intended to strengthen the manpower of the Services concerned.
