§ Mr. Ernie Robertsasked the Minister of Transport if he will introduce legislation to limit maximum vehicle weights in areas such as Hackney, North and Stoke Newington to 20 tons; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Fowler:The Greater London Council, and other county councils, already have powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1967 to prohibit or restrict the movement of heavy goods vehicles in their areas.
§ Mr. Ernie Robertsasked the Minister of Transport if he will make a statement on the retention of 32 tons as the gross vehicle weight for lorries in the United Kingdom and encourage the use of rail and waterways for the transport of heavy loads.
