asked the Minister of Transport what was the estimated construction period and the estimated cost of the Ludlow bypass when work commenced; what is the current estimated cost; and when he estimates this bypass to be open for public use.

When work began, in June 1977, the construction period was estimated at two years and the cost at £4.44 million. Completion is now expected by November this year at an estimated cost of £4.54 million. Neither figure includes the cost of providing the new underline railway bridge which was the subject of a separate contract.
