§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will consider the immediate introduction of an amendment to the Education Order (Northern Ireland) 1972, so as to secure that the procedure for revision of education boards' estimates is not used in order to avoid the need for an excess Vote, which is the principal danger arising from the comments at paragraphs 64 to 69 of the Comptroller and Auditor-General in his report on 1977–78 Appropriation accounts.
§ Mr. CarterThe procedure for revision of education and library board financial schemes has not been used to avoid the need for an excess Vote and will not be so used in the future. There is, therefore, no reason to consider the introduction of an amendment as suggested by the hon. Member.
