§ Mr. Bowdenasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what percentage of the money allocated to the arts in the next financial year will be available for community arts;
(2) how much money will be allocated to community arts in the financial year 1979–80.
§ Mr. OakesIn 1979–80 the Arts Council proposes to allocate directly to community arts projects £1 million or approximately 2 per cent. of its grant-in-aid. Further Arts Council funds will indirectly finance community arts through the Council's grants to such bodies as regional arts associations, arts centres, and small-scale theatre companies. Community arts projects may also qualify for financial support from other central Government programmes and from local authority funds.
