asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when she expects work to start and finish on the new building for the British Library in Somers Town; and how many people she expects to be employed there in all grades.

Demolition is due to start next month. The first stage of the building is due for completition in 1990 and should house about 1,800 staff.
