§ Mr. Churchill
asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is approximately the average number of hours per week that men serving in battalions on four-month tours in Northern Ireland are being required to work.
§ Mr. Robert C. Brown
Conditions vary widely throughout the Province and it is not possible to give precise figures. The hours worked by troops on four-month tours vary between about 80 and 110 hours, including time spent on stand-by62W in readiness for immediate duty, depending on the region in which they are deployed and the level of activity.
