asked the Secretary of State for Trade what representations he has received from workers in the leather industry on the export of hides; and if he will make a statement.

I saw a delegation composed of representatives of both sides of the leather industry, and led by my right hon. Friend the Member for Bermondsey (Mr. Mellish), on Wednesday 7 March.

I am now pursuing the points raised with me and shall maintain close contact with the industry.
