§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much land has been purchased and disposed of under the Community Land Act powers by the Docklands Land Board and each of the constituent London boroughs in the years since the operation of the Act.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettThe information up to 31 March 1978 is as follows:
Acres acquired Acres disposed of Docklands Land Board 2.7 0 Greenwich LBC 1.6 1.3 Lewisham LBC 0 0 Newham LBC 0 0 Southwark LBC 0 0 Tower Hamlets LBC 0.6 0
§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied with the rate at which surplus land is being released for development by statutory undertakers.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettSo long as any of these bodies is holding on to surplus land which could be brought forward early for development or other use I cannot consider the situation to be satisfactory.
But there is an agreed procedure for notifying surpluses, and I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given by my hon. Friend on 22 February about the other steps being taken, particularly in the inner city context. [Vol. 963, c. 299.] The problems involved are complex and site specific and it would not help to try to make general judgments about the rate of progress on those negotiations at this stage.
