§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Minister for the Civil Service how many days per week are being spent by the committee of inquiry into comparability of non-Home 517W Office police forces in its investigations; if he is satisfied that this is sufficient in view of the urgency of the task; and if he will now estimate when the committee is likely to report.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisI am satisfied that the committee is carrying out its task with all possible speed. The committee is studying the large amount of written evidence submitted on behalf of most of the 12 forces concerned and is carrying out a series of visits to them. It would be misleading to give the number of days per week as an indication of the work being done and until the visits have been completed and all the evidence requested has been studied it will not be possible to estimate when the committee is likely to report.
