How many standing Royal Commissions and temporary Royal Commissions respectively have been at work within the period 1950 to the present time; what has been the minimum, maximum and average period of office held by the chairmen in each category and how many of each have been paid a salary or fees.

The numbers of standing and temporary Royal Commissions financed from monies voted by Parliament which have been at work since 1950 are 11 and 28 respectively. The minimum, maximum, and average periods of office held by the chairmen in each category are:

Minimum Maximum Average
Standing Royal Commissions 2 years 30 years 9 years
Temporary Royal Commissions 5 months 5 years 2½ years
Four chairmen of standing Royal Commissions have been paid a salary. Fees have been paid to three chairmen of temporary Royal Commissions.
