HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 cc15-6W
29. Sir Anthony Royle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport on what date he intends to publish the report by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory on the safety, effectiveness and suitability of humps or sleeping policemen on public roads; what the interim results indicate; and if he will include Elm Grove Road, Barnes, in any future experiment.

Mr. Horam

The report on residential roads is being printed and will be published as soon as possible. The results indicate that humps reduce both traffic speed and the number of persons injured. No further experiments on residential roads are planned and a programme of experiments on non-residential roads is already under way.
