HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 cc56-7W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects to be able to reach a decision about the future use of the Royal Herbert hospital, Woolwich.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

We have been considering the possibility of making use of the Royal Herbert hospital for another task in the London area and I had hoped to be able to give a decision on the future of the hospital early this year. However, during the course of our studies, possible alternative and potentially cheaper locations for this task have become available. In view of the possibility of considerable financial saving these options are being examined urgently, but it will still be some weeks before a decision can be reached.
