HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 c65W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if financial provision for the three remaining stages of redevelopment of the Royal Gwent hospital, Newport are now included in the capital programme of his Department.

Mr. Barry Jones

The current stage at a cost of nearly £5½ million should be completed in the next month or so. Detailed design of the next stage is well advanced and it will be considered for a start along with other priority schemes as funds become available. The remaining stages of development will be similarly considered when they reach the appropriate planning stage. As my hon. Friend knows, work on St. Woolos hospital at a cost of over £3 million will start this year.
