asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) how many National Health Service patients were accepted for in-patient treatment at the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, Woolwich, during the quarter ended 31 December 1978;

(2) what discussions have been held about the possible recovery of the costs of specialised facilities at the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, Woolwich, which are being made available to the National Health Service; and with what result.

During the quarter ending 31 December 1978, 625 National Health Service patients were admitted for in-patient treatment at the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, Woolwich. Discussions about the recovery of costs for making certain specialised facilities at the hospital available to the National Health Service are still at an early stage and I cannot speculate on the outcome.
