HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 cc47-8W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps the Government propose to take to deal with the shortage of chiropodists in the National Health Service.

Mr. Deakins

Policy is to increase the numbers of chiropodists partly by expanding output from existing schools and partly by opening new schools. A new school with 15 places—rising to 24 after three years—opened in Huddersfield last year, plans for a new school in Plymouth are well advanced, and I understand that plans are being made for a new school in East Sussex.
