§ Mrs. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether the claims submitted by United Kingdom citizens in Cyprus for loss and damage suffered in the Turkish invasion of 1974 have yet been paid.
§ Mr. JuddAlthough 74 claims have now been approved by the Turkish Cypriot claims commission, no payments have yet been made because the rate of exchange to be used in settlement of these claims remains the subject of negotiations. The British Government are doing all they can to ensure that a fair and reasonable rate of exchange is adopted.
