HC Deb 07 March 1979 vol 963 cc720-1W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the discussions held by his Department earlier this year with representatives of the former Shah of Iran; what were the purposes of the visit of this aide; and whether he will give an assurance that the former Shah of Iran will not be allowed to settle in Great Britain.

Mr. Judd

The Government have not received any formal request from the Shah to come to Britain. If one were received, we should need to give it careful consideration in the light of all the factors, including the problems of security.
