§ Mr. MoyleMajor inquiries have been appointed by my Department into the following matters:
- Provision and Co-ordination of Services to the family of John George Auckland (published 1975)
- Fire at Fairfield Home, Edwalton, Notts on 15 December 1974 (Published 1975)
- Normansfield Hospital, Teddington (Published 1978)
- Aspects of the Management of the case of Stephen Menheniott (To be published shortly)
- Cause of the Birmingham Smallpox Occurrences (To be published)
- Aspects of the Handling of the Case of Darryn Clarke (In Progress).
Less formal inquiries have been conducted by the Department's staff including a number under section 36 of the National Assistance Act 1948 in respect of services provided under section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970. Apart from these, inquiries into the health and personal social services have been set up by health and local authorities and there have been reports of a general nature commissioned by the Department. Inquiries into contribution matters have been held under section 93 of the Social Security Act 1975.
